The Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan and Office of the Treaty Commissioner presented Burnt Thicket with one of two 2024 Leading Together Awards, recognizing work with long-term impact towards reconciliation. The award honours all 49 artists who created our audio play series We Treaty People and was given at the annual Multicultural Honours ceremony, November 16, 2024 at Government House in Regina

All of us at Burnt Thicket Theatre are deeply honoured for the award, and grateful to be nominated by Treaty Commissioner Kathy Walker. We'd like to congratulate all 49 artists who graciously shared their stories and talents in creating the fiction podcast.  Congrats to One Hoop who also received a Leading Together Award, and to all the amazing people and organizations who were nominated or received awards!

The ceremony kicked off Saskatchewan’s annual Multicultural Week celebration. More photos below plus a nominees’ video from MCoS about our work and One Hoop.

We’d like to encourage everyone to take the next step in their learning journeys towards healing between all peoples and reconciliation with the beautiful lands we share.
